Edinburgh Marathon 2024

Been waiting on a wee while to get this posted and happy / relieved to share the news.

Derek Meek & Darren Whitelaw recently participated in the Edinburgh Marathon & raised an amazing amount of money, to help support local charities.

Unfortunately, Derek took unwell at mile 23. Most people would have cramp, fatigue etc, but Derek decided to have a cardiac arrest😳

Thankfully, Derek is making an amazing recovery and is looking great.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the volunteers, Paramedics, Doctors & NHS staff for their quick response and for taking care of Derek.

We are delighted to announce, Shannon’s Foundation received £3000 from their event and the cheque was presented by Derek & Darren on Thursday👏👏👏

We would also like to thank Kevin Taggart, who worked behind the scenes with helping to promote their challenge & helping to raise the fantastic sum👏👏

Great work guys and thank you for choosing Shannon’s Foundation🌈💋💄🙏💜🎗️

50th Anniversary of Feast of the Hangover

A huge thank you to all members of The Glasgow Freight Club for choosing Shannon’s Foundation to benefit from their annual “Feast of the Hangover Lunch” held at Glasgow Crowne Plaza Hotel this year 💜

It was an honour for such a prestigious event to be discussing Shannon’s Foundation, but to get selected, we were astonished.

Over 400 attendees gathered for a special 50th anniversary lunch and we are privileged to announce, that an amazing £10,000 was raised for our Foundation😊 (still in shock..lol)

Thank you all to who gave generously to the raffle and to the auctions and for helping to raise the terrific sum👏👏

A special mention to Craig Fyffe & Kelly-Anne Savage for helping to make this happen and for looking after us at the event💜

Thanks again to all involved and for helping to raise smiles with children with cancer🎗️💜

Chairman John McCormick with the cheque presentation

Smiles all around😊

Shannon’s Foundation was delighted to help the gorgeous Natalya with a wee issue.💜

Natalya’s mum explained that Natalya’s IPad was broken and was looking for help with a replacement.

Shannon’s Foundation stepped in and a new IPad was ordered. Also, some other gifts were bought to help cheer up Natalya, on her recent hospital visit.😊

We later found out that Natalya shared her IPad with her brothers and was also a source for the family keeping in touch with FaceTime, whilst Natalya was in hospital, which could be days, weeks or even months.

The boys miss their mum & sister, when they are in hospital and regular visits are an issue with the distance they have to travel to the hospital.

When we try to support families, we always ask “What would Shannon do?”

We all know family was the most important thing for Shannon & we knew she would be telling us to get the boys an IPad too, so they could all keep in regular contact, so another 2 ordered for the boys😊

The pictures say it all, 3 super happy kids and a happy mum too💜😍

Again, a huge thanks to all our amazing followers, for your continuous support and for helping Shannon make these amazing smiles💜💋🎗😊

Xmas Selection Boxes

Sadly, this year, Shannon’s Foundation won’t be collecting Xmas Selection Boxes to donate to the children’s hospitals.

Due to Covid-19, we came to the decision for everyone’s safety and especially for the children & staff at Edinburgh Sick Kids, Teenage Cancer Unit & Rachel House Hospice.

We will still be sending a cheque donation to the 3 places mentioned and if you would like to contribute, you can do so through our page.

Thank you & stay safe x

Running Through the Pain Barrier

Congratulations to Derek Black on completing the Edinburgh Marathon for our Foundation.

Derek had to endure excruciating pain to complete his task, with problems with his knee on the 12 mile mark and suffering spasms in his hamstring from the 23rd mile.

Sheer determination and will power drove Derek over the finishing line, as he knew why and who he was running for and we also like to think Shannon, helped him on the day.

So, an incredible achievement for our Foundation and we can't thank Derek enough for his efforts and choosing to support our Foundation.

Thank you to all who donated and for supporting Derek over the last few weeks.

Hope you enjoyed your ciders, Derek🍺🍺🍺
